Context

The Oviedo Philharmonic Society has been a key institution in promoting classical music in the city, creating a unique space for culture and, through its programme, bringing generations of Oviedo residents closer to great international performers, thereby consolidating a cultural tradition that forms part of the city’s identity.

Great performers

Throughout its history, the Oviedo Philharmonic Society has brought great figures of classical music to the city.

Acknowledgements

The Filarmónica Theatre is today a cultural landmark of the city, but its origins cannot be understood without the work of the Oviedo Philharmonic Society.

For decades, this institution drove Oviedo’s musical life, bringing some of the most outstanding performers on the international scene to the city and consolidating a cultural tradition that endures to this day.

Today, under municipal management, the theatre continues this work, opening itself up to new disciplines and audiences, while always building on the legacy established by the Oviedo Philharmonic Society.
